- Veterans Sustainable Agriculture Training (VSAT)
VSAT offers training aimed at building on the skills of transitioning service men and women to gain success in the thriving sector of sustainable agriculture. It's a six-week intensive incubator program with post-training job placement and business start-up assistance. Graduates include successful farm owners and workers, soil-testers, restaurateurs, and food company owners. Update: Archi's Acres has partnered with Cal Poly Pomona's College of the Extended University to create a six-week fully accredited agricultural certificate program, modeled after its VSAT program. Mavenjoy Best Practice Pick: Archi's Acres is about creating opportunities for returning veterans in hydroponic, organic farming. In addition to sourcing healthy foods to local communities, each acre of greenhouse will create over 10 jobs, and every job created on the farm has a multiplier effect creating over 2.5 jobs elsewhere in that community.
